Cheryl is a returning staff member having served previously as Water Quality Specialist. Her new role as Engagement Coordinator prioritizes the Upper Illinois River Focus Area where she’ll be actively engaging with landowners and residents to come up with solutions to challenges ranging from wildfire resiliency and fish habitat restoration to forest health. In recent years as a NPS Park Ranger and Natural History Associate for the Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve, she enjoyed sharing with visitors the ecological niches which earned the Illinois Valley its nomination as a World Natural Heritage Sight. She’s lived in the Illinois Valley off and on since 1980.
